Being woken up when I was sleeping on the bottom bunk of my bed and being told we were going to York Races. Can’t remember the journey there but vividly remember eating an ice cream, having a white and cream blanket with a smooth edge and being given a can of Coke. I think I remember wearing dungarees with a bright green apple right on the center pocket, which I am sure happened, but when I think back the Hungry Caterpillar always creeps in to the memory so can’t verify this part as being mine as its maybe just association with an early book and a greedy insect. The dungaree apple sometimes has a silk caterpillar sewn on, which does make more sense and a little worm hole picked out in black.
